Why applications get refused

Role not on eligible list

Occupation code not eligible (e.g. care worker overseas after Jul 2025).

Fix: Confirm the SOC code is on the current Health & Care list before applying.

Salary below required floor

Pay below £25,000 pay-scale or £31,300 non-scale, or below going rate.

Fix: Match the offer to the correct floor and the occupation going rate.

Missing professional registration

Clinical role without required UK professional registration evidence.

Fix: Provide NMC/GMC (etc.) registration or proof it is in progress as allowed.

Document checklist

Required

Bank statement (3 months)

Certificate of Sponsorship from health sponsor

When: "all"

The Certificate of Sponsorship confirms your employer is an approved health or care sponsor and gives their sponsor licence number.

Current passport

When: "all"

Your passport proves your identity and nationality for the application.

Proof of English language ability

When: "unless exempt"

You must prove you can speak, read, write and understand English when you apply.

Criminal record certificate

When: "health & care roles"

Certain health, education and social care occupations require a criminal record certificate for every country you lived in for 12 months or more in the last 10 years while 18 or over.

Common mistake

A certificate issued too long ago is a common error: for your current country it must be dated no earlier than 6 months before you apply, and non-English certificates need a certified translation.

TB test certificate

When: "Nigeria"

The Home Office needs proof you do not have infectious tuberculosis before granting entry for a stay of 6 months or more from a listed country.

Common mistake

Leaving the chest x-ray too late is a common error, since the certificate is only valid for 6 months from the date of the x-ray and must come from an approved clinic.

What a free chatbot cannot do

A free AI can tell you the rules. Rekoja does the harder part: we verify them against the official government source, prepare the actual application file, catch what gets people refused, and a specialist checks everything before you submit. We stand behind our work.

  • Rules verified against the official source, with the date
  • Document checklist built for your specific profile
  • The inconsistency check that catches what gets people refused
  • A human reviews your complete file before submission

Real outcomes

100% approved

Based on 12 reported outcomes across all Rekoja cases. This is a look back at past cases, not a prediction. The embassy decides; past results do not guarantee future outcomes.

Prepare for the interview

Many work routes include an interview or credibility check. Done-for-you Premium includes a live interview-preparation session with a specialist: the questions officers actually ask on this route, practised with you before the real thing.

Preparation improves your readiness, not the decision. Practice, never a guarantee.
